The local Engineers Without Borders community is hosting the 7th annual “Bridging the Gap” Conference in Vancouver. This will be the largest international development conference in Western Canada this year. On Saturday March 27, 2010, Graham Allen, Associate Counsel with Boughton Law Corporation, will participate in the panel discussion on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). This session will focus on the development of CSR policies both in the community and in the workplace with a focus on transparency and accountability. This session will include a discussion regarding Bill C-300, a private member’s bill which calls for corporate accountability in the extractive industry in developing countries. Bill C-300 has created a lot of controversy and excitement recently within the mining industry and media. Mr. Allen is actively involved in the campaign and support of Bill C-300, and will be able to provide an in-depth perspective on the issue.
More than 400 delegates are expected to participate in the Conference from various parts of Canada. The one day Conference will be held at the UBC Life Sciences Institute. For more information, please click here.
