Sustainable Practices
Sustainable practices means making business decisions which meet current needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet theirs.
We are committed to the following sustainable practices:
Purchasing
Apply sustainability criteria when buying supplies, equipment and services.
Reduce, Reuse and Recycle
Minimize the use of paper in storing data, printing, copying and communications.
Reduce the use of disposables and packaging, reuse equipment and supplies where feasible and recycle as much as possible.
Energy
Reduce energy consumption and choose the most efficient alternatives in heating/cooling, lighting and equipment.
Commuting
Encourage the use of mass transit, carpooling, walking and cycling by appropriate incentives to lawyers, students and staff.
Office Space
Use our work space more efficiently to reduce our footprint in proportion to the number of lawyers, students and staff.
Specify materials that are high in recycled content, recyclable or biodegradable and durable.
Education
Develop an incentive program to encourage our lawyers, students and staff to support this policy.
Encourage ideas and feedback from everyone on how to improve our sustainable practices.
Measurement
Assess our footprint as a business and measure our success in reducing it from year to year.
Outreach
Share our ideas and experience in developing and implementing sustainable business practices with the legal and business community at large.
