Hugh Claxton is the co-chair of the Banking practice group.
He represents banks, credit unions, life insurance companies, pension funds and other commercial lenders and borrowers in connection with all types of loans from simple mortgage transactions to complex multi-jurisdictional credit facilities; the financing of all types of real estate investments; CMHC insured loans over multi-unit residential buildings; issues of bonds and debentures and other instruments in private placements; project loans for property developments, independent power projects, mines and industrial plants; financings of the purchase, lease and sale with the leaseback of equipment; letters of credit and other financial instruments; vessel and aircraft financing; personal property security matters and multi-jurisdictional transactions involving parties and assets in other Canadian provinces and the United States.
His practice also includes general corporate/commercial, real estate and business law, including the purchase and sale of real estate and businesses.
