Janet Derbawka advises clients on general business law and securities matters, including structuring, negotiating and documenting a broad range of corporate/commercial transactions with an emphasis on acquisitions, divestitures, reorganizations and financings. Janet has acted as counsel in numerous multi-jurisdictional transactions including cross-border transactions involving foreign purchasers. Her experience spans a variety of industries including technology, gaming, financial services, retail, and facility management.
Ms. Derbawka also represents clients in real estate acquisitions and sales and secured transactions for lenders and borrowers. She has been counsel for a range of privately-held companies, international franchises, real estate investment trusts, and publicly traded companies.
Currently Janet is the shareholder responsible for Boughton's corporate services department, whose staff of paralegals and clerks provide incorporation, registration and records management services to approximately 2,000 corporations, partnerships and societies.
