Ms. Justel's practice in the areas of corporate law and commercial transactions includes extensive experience in assisting Aboriginal clients on a wide range of business matters, including:
Business structures and corporate reorganizations designed to achieve and maintain tax-exempt status;
Establishing settlement and business trusts;
Corporate governance;
Economic development projects;
Establishing and ongoing representation of joint ventures with non-Aboriginal industry partners;
On-reserve commercial leasing and other third party dispositions; and
Financing and security on reserve lands.
Specific engagements have included:
Representing an Alberta First Nation in the structuring and financing of a destination resort and casino project; and
Acting as ongoing corporate counsel for various Alberta and Northwest Territories First Nations; Tribal Councils, Territorial Governments, Metis Settlements and various Aboriginal businesses.
