Tony Wilson chaired a full day Seminar on Franchising Your Small Business, put on by the Canadian Franchise Association in Vancouver. In addition to speakers from BMO Bank of Montreal, Flying Wedge Pizza and Franchise Specialists, Tony spoke about the legal aspects of franchising a buiness to an audience of more than 50 prosepective franchisors. Tony Wilson moderated a panel of Lawyers discussing “Hot Topics in Franchise Law” at the 2009 Canadian Franchise Association Western Summit held September 30th in Vancouver. In addition to moderating the panel, Tony spoke about the importance of Franchisors getting familiar with the uses of Social Media by their employees and customers and how to deal with “on-line reputation management” of their businesses.
Tony Wilson has been appointed to the Unfair Contracts Relief Project Committee of the British Columbia Law Institute, and, in conjunction with other committee members and BCLI staff lawyers, will assist in determining whether changes are required in the current law when a contracts are unfair or otherwise unconscionable.
